Annie's Newsletter - Save on ex-symposium Bernina machines!

Hi there...what a busy time of the a year with the countdown on until the general election, the gardens and the lawns are now needing attention, National Quilt Symposium, classes, international tutors and not to mention the pre-Christmas events that seem to be popping up in the calendar!

14.9.17 1While I was in Auckland last week we spent time with some of our favourite suppliers and have come up with some great specials for you. The first one is the top quality Klasse 3.5” gold handle stork scissors. These normally retail for $19.50, but we have managed to secure a bulk quantity of these for just $10.00 a pair. These little embroidery scissors are an excellent addition to any sewing box and would make a great Christmas present, as a girl can never have too many pairs of scissors!

14.9.17 2Also back in stock are the very popular Moda Wool Scrap Bags. These are excellent value for wool applique projects where you need a good variety of colours and they are just $36.00.

Don’t forget about Ashburton’s Boulevard Day on September 25th which sees a lot of the retailers and food vendors take to the streets for a carnival type atmosphere where you are sure to get a bargain. The Ashburton Rotary Club’s famous Bookarama is also on at the same time (23-28 September) and is mecca for readers of all ages and an amazing fundraising event. So for a perfect day out, be sure to make a visit to Annie’s part of the plan!

Great savings are still available on the Bernina ex-symposium machines, with the opportunity to save up to $1500 on some models, but there are limited numbers of these machines so you will need to be in quick. Don’t forget that all machines, light and multi boards being taken to Symposium for classes need to tagged and tested for electrical safety including lights. This is a service that we offer at Annie’s for just $5.00 per item.

Before I forget, the regular monthly Woolly Stitchers Day is this Saturday. It is $20.00 for the day or part thereof, and everyone is very welcome - so pack your wool projects and come along. See you then!

Now...on to the recipe.

Tandoori Chicken

  • 1.5 kg chicken pieces
  • 2 cloves of garlic peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 c natural low fat yoghurt
  • 1 thumb size piece of fresh ginger grated or 1 tsp powdered ginger
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ¼ tsp dry mustard
  • ¼ tsp chilli powder

Remove the skin from the chicken. Mix the garlic and spices together and combine with the yoghurt. Make some small cuts in the flesh of the chicken to allow it to absorb the flavours, and then cover it with the yoghurt spice mixture and cool in the fridge overnight.

Place the chicken on a wire rack in the roasting dish and bake at 200C for about 35 mins until golden. Serve with rice and a green salad.

Happy stitching,

Rachel
