Annies Newsletter - it is Bernina sale time again!

Hi there....it is Bernina sale time again! This is a once a year opportunity to make some great savings across all models, as well as 20% off Bernina and Bernette accessories (excluding bobbins, needles and bobbin cases).

11.4.18 2I also have a super dooper offer on the Bernina 580 machine that has been on our demonstration bench, serviced and recalibrated to factory settings. The RRP is $7499.00, however I need to make room for new models so it is going out at $4999 with a FREE embroidery unit including a small and a large hoop, embroidery bobbin case and bobbins. This is a saving of $2500.00 on what is a fantastic machine. This is a one-off deal so it is first in first served.

11.4.18 1It is never too early to start on those Christmas projects and Natalie Bird from The Birdhouse (Australia) has a gorgeous range of Christmas hangings which she usually adds to with a new one each year. This is my version of Chilly Penguins using blue fabrics rather than the traditional reds and greens. These patterns are $29.90 each and come with the pre-printed stitchery included.

Well...the car is packed and hopefully the roads are clear today as we head north to visit family and attend the Waimea Quilt Show at the Wakefield School Hall on Saturday and Sunday. See you there!

The past couple of days have definitely seem a wintery blast give us all a rude awakening to winter and the start of soup weather....this is a hearty and delicious recipe that pretty much uses things that you have in the cupboard.

Split Pea and Sausage Soup

  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 leek
  • 2 celery sticks
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 ½ yellow split peas
  • 6 cups chicken, beef or vegetable stock
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 250 g good quality sausages
  • Salt and pepper to taste

In a large saucepan cook the onion, leek and celery for about 10 mins before adding the split peas and vegetables. Add the nutmeg, bay leaves and stock. Simmer until the peas are tender.

Grill the sausages and chop roughly before adding to the soup. Season with salt and pepper and serve with crusty bread.

Happy stitching and stay warm,

Rachel and the team at Annie’s.
