Annie's Ramblings 11 July 2019 - more beautiful Liberty fabrics!

Hi there. I hope you have all survived the school holidays so far. We have checked off another term and are more than half way through the year. As the years tick on, the calendar tends to speed up and it is important to remember to make the most of each day and the opportunities that come our way!

11.7.19 1When it is fabric, sewing and creating that makes you happy there are endless worlds of possibility which is why I love this industry! Speaking of which I have to tell you about these absolutely stunning Liberty Tana Lawn fabrics that have just arrived in. I have received half the shipment as there is another lot due to arrive any day. There is no denying that these are extremely beautiful and expensive fabrics, but when you think about using them in combination with beautiful linens and in paper piecing projects or as a special feature they become a must have as a collection of fat 1/8th’s or 16th’s. Or you could just go all out and make a beautiful top or shirt with your favourite prints and use the scraps for your patchwork!

11.7.19 2The other project I would like to show you is a cushion which expresses a sentiment we all should live by! Available as a kit with the fabrics, threads and pre-printed Transfer-Eze it is $56.00

Coming up this Saturday is our regular Woolly Stitchers day for those of us who are hooked on wool applique. You are all welcome to join us – more details on the website. Don’t forget that our regular classes continue each Tuesday night from 7.00-9.30 and every second Thursday morning. Pick a project from Annie’s and we will help you turn it into a finished quilt, bag, table runner, pin cushion or whatever you decide.

Now...onto the recipe. This week I thought I would tempt you to a weekend brunch idea for a lazy Sunday morning!

French Toast

  • 1 tsp mild honey
  • ¼ tsp vanilla essence
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3 tbsp cream
  • 3 lightly beaten eggs
  • 4 slices of ciabatta bread
  • 25 g butter

Preheat the oven to 150C. Warm the honey, vanilla and salt and whisk together with the eggs and cream. Soak the bread in the mixture until soggy. Melt the butter in the fry pan and brown the ciabatta on both sides before placing it into the oven for about 6-7 minutes until puffed up. Serve with a fresh or frozen berry compote or banana, bacon and maple syrup, or your favourite topping.

Serves 2.

Take care and happy stitching

Rachel
