Annie's Ramblings - Happy Easter!

Happy Easter...and may your days be filled with stitching and chocolate! Just to let you know, this Saturday is the day to shop at Annie’s as we are planning to have the rest of the weekend off and we will be back bright eyed and bushy tailed on Tuesday. (Just to clarify, closed Friday, Sunday and Monday, as well as Anzac Day the following Monday).

After a very successful retreat weekend at Lake Rotoiti we are now back home unpacking boxes of new fabric, gorgeous hand dyed embroidery threads and patterns, making up more kits and getting ready for our next event which is the Motueka Quilt Connection annual quilt show where we will be a merchant (20-22 May). Looking forward to seeing you there!

I thought I would give you a peak at this beautiful new range Rue Floriane ($32.00 pm) from Melbourne designer Kim Hurley of Luccello. Kim’s ranges are inspired by her collection of antique textiles and ephemera collected over many years during her travels to antique fairs and flea markets in Europe and the United States. (Available by the metre, fat quarter and fat eights, these also work very well with French General fabrics.)

This is another fabric that I couldn’t resist, just because it is a bit fun and quirky. It would make a great bag, sewing machine cover or even a shirt!

Now...on to the recipe. This is excellent dish for cooks in a hurry and can be made more substantial with the addition of some beef strips or cooked chicken, or some extra vegetables. (The leftovers are pretty good too!)

Satay Noodles

  • 250 g egg noodles
  • 1 c crunchy peanut butter
  • 3 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic peeled and chopped
  • 3 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 fresh chilli finely chopped
  • ½ c light soya sauce
  • ½ chopped coriander leaves

Place the noodles in a pot of boiling water and cook until tender. Drain and rinse under cold water. Place all the ingredients for the sauce in a pan. Cook together until thickened and then add in the noodles. Serve in bowls topped with the fresh coriander.

Have a great weekend and happy stitching,

Rachel
