Annies Ramblings - 5 January 2024
Hi there. Happy New Year! By now I am guessing the ham is almost finished, the Christmas tree is on the way out and it is all about enjoying warm days, long evenings, summer fruit and hopefully some time to relax and do some stitching.
Here at Annie’s we are celebrating summer with some amazing savings on Moda Layer Cakes, Jelly Rolls, and Charm Square packs which are around half the normal price. There is a huge selection from great designers such as Jen Kingwell, 3 Sisters, French General, Jo Morton, Basic Grey, Kansas Troubles and many, many more! Be in quick as this is a one-off clearance with prices that you will not see again.
If you are wondering how to use these pre-cuts we have lots of patterns and books on the subject, or just cut half square triangles, small squares, circles or you can simply sew the squares or strips together without any cutting at all! There are loads of other ideas on line too.
While I am in the mood for specials....if you are after a new sewing machine, this is another one off deal. This Bernina 325 is on our display bench and we need to make room. You can make it yours for $1799.00 a saving of $500 (RRP $2299).
This is a good solid machine that comes with the full Bernina warranty and back up service that we are known for, complete with easy threading, brilliant LED lighting, automatic buttonholes, extension sew table and 23 decorative stitches.
Speaking of Bernina we are very excited to be hosting Bernina Educator Julie Veck in store 17-18 January. She will be here to run some workshops for people interested in purchasing a new Bernina overlocker or an embroidery unit for their late model Bernina. Places are very limited and it is first in first served, so please give us a call if you keen to join us.
Now, onto the recipe...just in case you still have a little Christmas ham that needs using up ☺
Buttons and Bows Salad
- 250 g bow shaped pasta
- ½ c slivered almonds
- 4 spring onions
- 125 g diced ham
- 1/3 c mayonnaise
- 2 T sour cream
- 1 tsp whole grain mustard
- 1 T lemon juice
Cook the pasta as per pack instructions, drain and cool. Blend the mayonnaise, sour cream, mustard and lemon juice and season with salt and pepper. Toss through the salad with the rest of the ingredients, and sprinkle with some extra almonds.
Before I forget the winner of the Annie’s $50.00 voucher for December is Justine Brickwood. Congratulations Justine, your voucher is here waiting for you.
In case you are passing through Ashburton, a visit to our Art Gallery is a treat. Especially at the moment as you can be inspired by the Suffragette in Stitches quilt exhibition which is on until 18 February.
If you are in the Nelson region and need a spot of quilting inspiration “Mid Summer Quilts in Tasman” is on at the Tasman Church on the Ruby Bay Coastal Highway January 18-19 and will be well worth a visit.
Happy holidays and safe travels, and we look forward to seeing you at Annie’s!
