Annie's Ramblings 16th February 2024- Happy Happy!

Hi there.

Great news this week with the arrival of fabric that we have been waiting on for our new Block of the Month program “A Day in Happyland” by Anni Downs from Hatched and Patched.  To all of you who have been waiting through production delays and customs hold ups, thank you for your patience – Block 1 will be in the mail by the end of next week!

If you would like to make this beautiful quilt, you can sign up here.  It is a 12 month program and is $53.00 per month.  This includes all your cotton and linen fabrics for the quilt top and border as well as the wool packs, plus the DMC thread pack as a bonus.

16.2.24 2Also just arrived in are these very cute little tins…ideal for pins, needles or in fact anything that you need to hide away from prying eyes (hee hee!)  These egg tins would also make a great Easter gift and they are big enough to hold some treats,  or even a small sewing project ☺

This wee16.2.24 1k I thought I would show you one of my newest quilts, this is “Wonky Stars” which is a great stash buster.  If you would like to have a go at this one, why not bring your scrap fabrics and join us for our fortnightly Thursday morning class.   You can try this or get some help with one of your other projects in class.  More details on the website or give us a call here at the shop.

Speaking of classes, this Saturday (tomorrow) is our monthly Wool Applique class –  a day of uninterrupted stitching, what could be better?  Look out for this next month as well, as it maybe a good chance to get some help and get started on your first block of the “A day in Happyland”?

Now…onto the recipe and something tasty to nibble on with either store bought or homemade crackers.

Beetroot hummus

  • 2 small beetroot, roasted and peeled
  • 1 clove crushed garlic
  • 1 can chick peas
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • Juice of a lemon
  • ½ olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground pepper

Place all the ingredients in a food processor and whiz until well combined.   Taste and adjust seasonings to taste.

Happy stitching, and we look forward to seeing you at Annie’s soon!
