Annie's Ramblings - Creative Enthusiam!

Hi there. Last weekend it was great to learn some new skills and have an injection of creative enthusiasm from the very talented New Zealand quilt artist Sonya Prychal. Check out the pictures on the Annie’s Facebook page.

12.7.18 1If you are interested in trying your hand at some machine embroidery or free motion quilting with some beautiful threads we do have a good selection of colours in stock including these Wonderfil packs that are on special. Variegated are normally $56.00 and they are now just $39.00. Plain are normally $36.00 and are now just $29.00.

I am always looking out for new tutors to come and teach for us, so if you have any suggestions I am happy to hear them. In November I am really looking forward to having Griet Lombard to teach for us. She is a very busy and talented lady who has taught at number of Symposiums and events throughout New Zealand and you can check out her work on line. More details to come, but you are welcome to register your interest with us now if you wish.

12.7.18 2We have had lots of new goodies arriving in the shop this week including these great new tote bags from Moda. They are $26.00 each and made from good quality heavy cotton drill fabric - just the thing for every self-confessed fabric-aholic!

Now, on to the recipe...this is something fun that you can get the kids to help you make during the school holidays

Chocolate Milkshake Jellies

  • 1 sachet of gelatin
  • 100 g sugar
  • 500 ml water
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 250 ml evapourated milk

Dissolve the gelatine in 200 ml of the water and heat another 200ml of water and dissolve the cocoa powder in it.

Add both mixtures to a saucepan with the rest of the water, sugar and evaporated milk. Heat and stir until the mixture starts to bubble and the sugar is dissolved.

Pour into a large shallow dish and leave to cool. Refrigerate for about 3 hours. Use small cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the jelly. Use sprinkles and small lollies or fresh and freeze dried fruits to decorate.

Well...must dash as I have a million things on my ‘to do’ list before I can go on holiday...yay!!!

Happy stitching,

Rachel
